On my desk: the gorgeous endpapers in Bernard Cornwell’s 1356. We’re kicking off 2013 with a return to the Thomas of Hookton/Grail Quest series.

On my desk: finished copies of Lisa O’Donnell’s The Death of Bees. That’s Marnie (15) and Nelly (12) on the cover, and, well, I guess their parents as well.

On my desk: gorgeous and thick AREs for Helene Wecker’s debut novel, The Golem and the Jinni.
This is billed as a fresh combination of vivid historical novel and magical fable, which means I am going to eat it up this weekend, along with the (not pictured) Halloween candy still on my desk.

On my desk: finished copies of Barbara Kingsolver’s Flight Behavior.
The emboss on this, y’all…let’s just say this morning has involved heavy petting.

On my desk: finished copies of Louise Erdrich’s The Round House.
The cover has completely changed since we last saw the AREs. I know my shadow gets in the way here, but the background is a lovely shimmery silver that really makes the orange pop. It’s actually giving off a sense of urgency, and I can’t help but think that I need to reread this book right now.
Must resist.

On my desk: AREs of Elizabeth Haynes’ Dark Tide.
I’m still recovering from reading Into the Darkest Corner, but once I get over my heebie-jeebies I’ll dive into Elizabeth’s second thriller.
